About Home Improve Guide

Home Improve Guide is an independent website of home improvement calculators and cost guides for homeowners in the United States. The site is run by Muhammad Awais. It exists to answer the two questions that come before almost every project: how much material the job needs, and what it is likely to cost. Each tool shows its quantity, its price range and the formula behind both, so a homeowner can check the math, compare a contractor’s bid and plan a budget without guesswork.

What the site covers

The tools focus on the projects homeowners most often price on their own: concrete slabs, footings and bags, block, brick and mortar, pavers and the base and sand under them, roof pitch, drywall and insulation. Cost guides cover repair and replacement work in the same trades, such as roof leaks, sidewalks and foundations. Every calculator gives a quantity, a Low, Typical and High cost range where prices apply, and a list of what the estimate does not include.

How the tools are built

All calculators share one calculation engine and one configuration file that holds every constant and every price. No number is typed directly into a page. When a price range or a manufacturer yield changes, the configuration changes once and every page that uses it is rebuilt, so the same figure never disagrees with itself across the site.

Quantities come from published standards and manufacturer data: brick industry estimating tables, concrete and mortar data sheets, a blown insulation coverage chart and paver construction specifications. Prices are national planning ranges for the United States, dated, refreshed on a 3 month schedule and adjusted by state cost level. The full process is described on the methodology page.

Editorial standards

  • Worked examples are generated by the calculator itself, so text and tool agree digit for digit.
  • Specific numbers come from the site configuration or from a named source. Code and safety references point to the code section or agency that sets them.
  • Prices carry their period. The current ranges reflect October 2026.
  • Each page states its limits. A planning estimate is not a contractor quote, an engineering design or a code approval.
  • Content is written for this site. No text is copied from other websites.

Who the tools are for

The calculators are written for homeowners planning a project, comparing bids or deciding whether a job suits a weekend or a professional. Contractors and estimators also use them as a quick check. Every page points out where a licensed professional, an engineer or a permit becomes necessary, and where the work carries real safety risks.

Advertising and independence

Home Improve Guide may show advertising to support the site. Advertising never changes a quantity, a price range or a recommendation, and ads are never styled to look like calculator results. The site does not accept payment to rank or recommend a product or contractor.

Contact and corrections

Questions, corrections and suggestions for new calculators can be sent to contact@homeimproveguide.com. Reported errors are checked against the source and fixed across every page that uses the figure. The contact page lists what helps a correction get handled quickly.
